How to use CLPeasy

Before you start

You will need your fragrance supplier's SDS (Safety Data Sheet) PDF. Find it on your supplier's product page.

Tip: Have your SDS PDF open in another tab before you start — you will need to copy from Section 2.2.

Step 1 — Label size & shape

1
Choose your shape — Circle, Square or Rectangle.
2
Choose your size — 52mm (standard candle, the CLP minimum), 63mm (large jar) or Custom.
3
Watch the live preview update as you make changes.
Read the disclaimer carefully — you are responsible for verifying all label information against your SDS before selling.

Step 2 — Product details

1
Enter your scent name — this appears large in the centre of the label.
2
Select your product type — Scented Candle, Wax Melt etc.
3
Enter net weight (e.g. 200g), fragrance load % and burn time if applicable.
These fields are saved automatically — you won't need to retype them next time.

Step 3 — Hazard data

1
Select your fragrance supplier from the list — CLPeasy will show you a link to their SDS page.
2
Open your SDS PDF and find Section 2.2 — Label elements.
3
Select all the text in Section 2.2, copy it, then paste it into the Smart Paste box.
4
Click Extract hazard data — CLPeasy fills in the signal word, pictograms, H statements and allergens automatically.
5
Review everything carefully against your SDS before moving on.
If Smart Paste doesn't work with your SDS format, use the H statement chips and sensitiser library to enter data manually.

Step 4 — Business details

1
Enter your business name — appears at the top and bottom of the label.
2
Enter your address on one line, separated by commas. e.g. 1 High Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1AB
3
Enter your website (optional) and batch number (optional).
Business details are saved automatically for next time.

Step 5 — Download

1
Review your label in the preview carefully.
2
Tick the verification checkbox to confirm you have checked all data against your SDS.
3
Click Download PNG for home printing or Canva. Click Download SVG for cutting machines.
4
Click Save to my label library to save this label to your account for future use.
The dashed line is a cut guide only — it will not print. Cut along this line after printing.

Frequently asked questions

Do I legally need a CLP label?

Yes — if you sell scented candles or wax melts in the UK or EU you are legally required to have a CLP label. Trading Standards can issue fines for non-compliance.

Where do I find my SDS sheet?

On your fragrance supplier's website — usually on the individual product page. Look for a Download SDS or Safety Data Sheet link. Contact your supplier if you can't find it.

What is EUH208?

EUH208 means "Contains [substance name] — may produce an allergic reaction." You need it if your fragrance contains certain sensitiser substances above the threshold level. Your SDS Section 2.2 will tell you if it applies.

What size label should I use?

52mm circle is the CLP minimum and suits most standard candle jars. 63mm for larger jars. For wax melt clamshells or other small formats below 52mm, use Custom size and check the compliance warning that appears — your CLP text may need a larger label or a fold-out leaflet to stay legible.

Smart Paste didn't extract everything correctly

Make sure you copied only Section 2.2 of the SDS. If it still doesn't work, use the H statement chips and sensitiser library to enter the data manually.

Can I use this on my phone?

Yes — CLPeasy works on iPhone and Android. PNG files save to your camera roll and SVG files save to your Files app.
